My Savior

I am not skilled to understand
What God has willed what God has planned
I only know at His right hand
Stands one who is my Savior

I take Him at His word and deed
Christ died to save me this I read
And in my heart I find a need
Of Him to be my Savior

That He would leave His place on high
And come for sinful man to die
You count it strange so once did I
Before I knew my Savior

My Savior loves
my Savior lives
My Savior's always there for me
My God He was,
my God He is,
My God He's always gonna be...

My Savior loves
my Savior lives
My Savior's always there for me
My God He was,
my God He is,
My God He's always gonna be...

Yes living dying let me bring
My strength, my solace from this spring
That He who lives to be my king
Once died to be my Savior

That He would leave His place on high
And come for sinful man to die
You count it strange so once did I
Before I knew my Savior

My Savior loves
my Savior lives
My Savior's always there for me
My God He was,
my God He is,
My God He's always gonna be...

My Birthday!

Well, I am a few days late posting but my birthday was on Monday! It was one of those perfect days...well except for the part that I had to go to work. But, it was a planning day (no students) so it was low stress =) It all started out the night before when Justin cooked breakfast for me for dinner...I don't know why buy i LOVE breakfast for dinner. And my husband cooks a mean cinnamon french toast. Then, the next morning, he cooked me breakfast for breakfast!

So I headed off to work and a number of my teacher friends got me extra "prissy" gifts... they know me too well. I met Jus for lunch at La Ha (my favorite lunch place). My sweet SGA babies made me hand made cards (because they know I'm a sap like that) and framed and matted a picture that they all signed with sweet birthday wishes...it almost made me cry. And they gave me a "money tree"...they asked me what I wanted and I said "MONEY" (half joking) so they got a REAL tree and pinned money all over it! haha, they are so cute =)

My little darling came through as always with a beautiful bouquet that was delivered to me at school:When I got home Justin had left me a handmade card....if you know my husband at all, you know he doesn't DO handmade cards...but he did and it turned out to be the best birthday gift of all. He even went to the store and bought a little scrapbooking kit and a variety of candies to make his card/note work...He then instructed me to dress up because he was taking me out...although he wouldn't tell me where to??
We ended up at the Melting Pot! My favorite fun interactive resturant! We did the whole thing...Cheese fondue appetizer, Pacific Rim entree, and Chocolate Flaming Turtle dessert =) I did learn that my husband is not patient when cooking the entree meat...he kept trying to eat it before it was done, so I went into mommy mode and had to check every bite before he ate it. As you can tell, we stuffed ourselves. Jus ended the night with my gift! He's getting me my EXPENSIVE embroidery software that I've been begging for! I know it doesn't sound too romantic but it's what I've been wanting!
It was a good day, phone calls and cards from friends and family, fun, and food =) I love birthdays =)

On to other news, The Prissy Pink Polka Dot is booming! Here are some of my latest and greatest crafts:
Justin's cousin (Kristi) just had a baby girl and is a BIG Auburn fan. I made her a diaper cake with lots of coordinating goodies. So instead of doing the traditional Orange and Blue I thought I'd mix it up a bit and make things a little girly.
For our beach family reunion I made everyone a sports bottle to keep us hydrated on those hot days...I'm not going to put all of them on here but here's the one I made for Justin's brother..he's a big Tennessee fan =)
And here is a luggage I made for Marci (she used to work with me at SouthGate in college):
One of Tara's friends in London needed some cute diaper covers for her little girl, so The Prissy Pink Polka Dot has officially gone INTERNATIONAL!
And lastly, my own fall table decor. My new obsession is glittered pumkins. I burrowed a little hole in the top of these little ones and added a tea light.
My "not so new" obsession are Cinderella pumkins, they are short and curvy like the pumkins in the fairy tales so I think they make the cutest decorations =) Don't worry, we'll be carving our regular old pumkins too!

Because He Lives

Last night was Emily and Bryan's sweet wedding and I'll admit I teared up a bit...you can't listen to Emily's mom or Taylor give speeches and not cry. You can tell they really love that girl. I am thankful for Emily. We haven't been the longest of friends or the closest...and lord knows not all of her long time friends are incredibly fond of me, so it would not be surprising for her to omit me from her life as well but...she didn't and she hasn't and I love her for that. Thanks for giving me a chance Em and you and Bryan are going to be lasting a good long while...like forever. He is so YOU! He just kept coming up to me and thanking me for reading in the wedding...really? I thought it was like AN HONOR to be chosen to read and you're thanking ME? haha, it was really sweet =) I think you should keep him EM!

Okay so I had my little seat up on stage by the piano player (AKA: Pam Elliot, who sits right next to us in church EVERY sunday) so we chatted it up (she's really good at playing and chatting too). Well she started playing "Be Thou My Vision" and I leaned over to tell her that was my SECOND favorite hymn. She then asked the obvious question, "What's your first favorite?" and I answered "Because He Lives". Strangely she looked at me and said, "That's because your mama was singing that when you were born.".......She doesn't know it, but I started to cry a little about that. She just kept right on playing and I quickly dried it up. I don't know why that was emotional to me? I just love my mama...and that song...and the part where it talks about a newborn baby...and I can't wait to sing that when my baby is born one day...I guess all of that combined teared me up a bit. Anyway, I just came home and listened to that song. It's one of the few hymns that make a movie projector go off in your head, you can just SEE it:

God sent His son,
they called Him, Jesus;
He came to love,
heal and forgive;
He lived and died
to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there
to prove
my Savior lives!

Because He lives,
I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives,
all fear is gone;
Because I know
He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

How sweet to hold
a newborn baby,
And feel the pride
and joy he gives;
But greater still
the calm assurance:
This child can face
uncertain days
because He Lives!

Because He lives,
I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives,
all fear is gone;
Because I know
He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

And then one day,
I'll cross the river,
I'll fight life's final
war with pain;
And then, as death
gives way to vict'ry,
I'll see the lights of glory
and I'll know He lives!

Because He lives,
I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives,
all fear is gone;
Because I know
He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

**Please pray for my Grannie. She has suffered several mini strokes and now has been diagnosed with positional vertigo...which means every time she moves she gets so dizzy that at times she even passes out and has terrbile headaches. Pray for a treatment.

Our Vacay/Reunion

So we took our annual family beach reunion last weekend and as usual...had a blast (missed you JO). Here is a group shot in which you will notice two things...#1 our new family member named "the table" (it was just impossible to get this timed picture without including that big ole table) and #2 my husband looks really nice with his new wife and child over there doesn't he?(Jon, should we be worried?)

The one below is just an example of how great my husband is with kids. This is his niece Madelyn who is very cautious who she pals around with...she definitely enjoys the company of her mommy! I spent the entire time trying to brainwash her into liking me the best but Justin won that battle for sure....he's just so darn fun!
But Madelyn does have impecable fashion sense for a 2 year old.....we didn't even plan these outfits!
And did you really think I could leave the beach without getting some goofy picture of my husband? This is him in his "model on the beach trying to be sexy" pose....he was workin' it!
Okay, funniest thing ever was when Jon and Justin set out to help the little boys build their sand castle and ended up taking over the production completely. And surprisingly we ended up with a big hole and tunnels instead of castles. They called it their "aquarium" and even went out and caught live fish and crab to put in it! Look at how intensely they are staring at each other...they were in the planning stages here.They set it up so that the tide would replenish the water source and the fish would be able to live. Unfortunately when we went in for lunch low tide came and the water no longer reached the poor fish (RIP fish).
I love this time of year but...all good things must come to an end
=(

These are a few of HIS favorite things...

So Susie has dared/tagged me to compile a list of my husband's favorite things so, here they are...in no particular order:

#1 - hunting. Oh boy does he love to be in the outdoors! It's the only thing he'll get up for at 4 in the morning on a friggin' cold day to sit in a tree for hours...he says it relaxes him...I don't get it personally but he's such a cute little hunter/gatherer =)

#2 - Prissy. Yes, he has admitted it several times that our little Yorkie makes his heart pitter patter. When we are away on vacay, he'll look at me randomly and say, "Try to think about Prissy and not smile." I can't, she's just so cute and cuddly and my big manly husband will admit that he is in love with her too!

#3 - Golf. I'm not sure if he is in love with golf or if he just likes it because he's just so darn good at it....and he is so darn good at it.

#4 - Gadgets. Every day that boy is coming home with a new gadget of some type....usually the expensive type. For instance, just last week he bought a big ole fancy 4 wheeler. Now remember, we live on a 1/3 acre lot in a family filled subdivision...there isn't exactly any rough terrain to ride through. So he takes me on romantic rides around the block and we wave to all our neighborhood friends and we park that sucker right back into the garage =)

#5 - Dancing in the Kitchen. Once upon a time his mama told him that the sign of a healthy marriage is dancing in the kitchen. So, he quite often sweeps me up and leads me in a waltz in the middle of our everyday chores. I like that.

#6 - Vacations. I believe every vacation we have been on as a married couple has started with this conversation - Justin: Hey baby, we need a vacation. Christi: Okay, when and where? Justin: Now and anywhere. Have it booked when I get home....
And that is how our vacations are planned.

#7 - (this one had to be deleted due to inaccurate information, for all our readers...just know that I write in this blog without the permission nor foreknowledge of my husband.....are you happy BEN!!!)

#8 - Babies. My husband adores kids. That's why I want him to have one of his own sooo badly (well and because I adore them too). All of our friends' kids call him Uncle Justin and every where we go the kids are all waiting saying, "where's Justin, when's Justin coming, Can we go to Justin's house". He takes after his dad on that one....it's pretty bad when you don't have any kids and the neighborhood children knock on your door to see if your husband can come out and play =)

#9 - To sing. It is my absolute favorite to hear him belting praise songs to my Jesus. And he does BELT. We are a singing family...not so much in the choir or anything...just basically all the time. At times we will sing conversations to each other and then giggle once we realize that NOBODY does this but us! I love it most when he makes up raps...if you've ever read his poetry, his raps are even better! (hard to believe I know)

#10 - Jesus. That boy loves him some Jesus. He is one of the most moral, right-living men I know. And he has my utmost respect.

And after all of this....HE is MY favorite!

I hunt in high heels

Oh I just spent the day chillin' with future VP Sarah Palin....that's all!

We skipped the day at school and took all of our SGA kids to the Civic Center to see her. It was great. So much US pride and she is even stinkin' cuter in person...the camera really does add a few pounds, she's tiny!

So anyway, she spoke about some great issues, mostly the economy which she delved out some good plans to fix...whoo hoo! And the best part was that my SGA kids got to sit RIGHT behind her, I mean front row (they were actually standing) so if you happen to catch it on the news tonight the kids in the red shirts behind her the whole time she is talking........they're MINE! yay. They were sooo cute and she took the time to go down and shake every one of their hands. One of my sweet little boys told her that she was his hero and she proceeded to rub his face and tell him how sweet he was.......he won't be showering for a while I presume. It was a great experience for those kids and I know that if she gets elected they will remember it always...

Now for the explanation of the shirt above. This is what me and my teacher friends all wore to the speech. It is a mocking of something Rosie O'Donnell said on her blog. She said that Elizabeth H. (her co-host on the view, the conservative one) and Sarah Palin were "identical cousins" (you know the gun hugging religious types) and that she bets that they "hunt in their high heels". I'm sure she meant this to be an insult but she doesn't know about the south apparently...........So we thought we would show our support for our high heeled wearing, gun toting, religious freaks by wearing our hot pink shirt and our high heels of course =)
